Home-made posters!

Creating something aesthetic can be really difficult sometimes. Especially if you're indecisive like me. But the taste of accomplishment is priceless once you finish it! :)
According to option 1 of our task, I have made a movie poster based on a novel, as if my book is being into a movie and I'm responsible for its advertising. Option 2 was to make a magazine cover. I didn't choose it because it seemed to be more detailed and required more creativity.

The very first thing that I've done was deciding on the book. That was real trouble for me. Whenever I chose a book, others got offended. At last, I chose Landline by Rainbow Orwell. If you ask the reason, first of all, Orwell is an enthusiastic writer and you can clearly see this in her work. She always tries to write differently so her plots are unique.
The story begins with Georgia's refusal to visit her family at Christmas with her husband, Neal and two children because of her work. Neal and kids go and she keeps on working but things don't go well for her on the sides of both work and family relations. Then, she finds a magic phone!
    - There is a magic phone hidden in my closet. And I think it's connected to the past. And I think I'm supposed to fix something. I think I'm supposed to make something right.
There come some times when she loses her ability to detect what is real and what's not. It's funny a lot of times but the main idea remains sad.
    - Someone had given Georgia a magic phone and all she'd wanted to do with it stay up late talking to her old boyfriend. If they'd given her a proper time machine, she'd probably have used it to cuddle with him. Let someone else kill Hitler.

Okay, enough of talking about the book. Let's get back on the poster.
Once I decided on the novel, I made a plan and list the keywords according to the instructions. (Title, names, illustration, quotes, tag line, etc.)
I used four different images to create the illustration of the poster. I edited them via PhotoFilter 7. It was a really useful and easy program even though it's not precisely made for editing images. What was slightly difficult for me was to find the best matching clock to embed in the landline. I put Ian on the receiver side and Emma on the transmitter. Because all along the book, we see Georgia's attempts to talk to Neal both in the past and present one.
After preparing the background, I used Canva to create the poster. I've been using this platform for three years and I guarantee you, it's the best and the easiest. Plus it's free.
Here my poster:
I know it looks small and illegible, for a clearer image click here. ^,^
